Research networks and consortia

The information presented below concerns research networks and consortia both in the strict sense, i.e. understood more broadly – as an association of universities and institutions, research teams, and independent researchers from various countries, carrying out scientific or socio-scientific activities, usually organised around an overarching theme; but also in the narrower sense, i.e. the activities of advisory or expert bodies (and others), bringing together researchers from various centres around their work.

Research teams

Research teams bring together staff from the Institute of Linguistics and from other institutes or faculties to conduct joint research, including both single-topic studies and those that incorporate perspectives from various scientific disciplines.

The team consists of two researchers: Lidia Przymuszała (linguist) and Dorota Świtała-Trybek (cultural studies scholar), who conduct interdisciplinary research on the cultural heritage of Silesia (particularly its culinary heritage). The result of the researchers’ long-standing collaboration is a wealth of articles and monographs (both authored and edited) on this subject, and above all the Lexicon of Silesian Culinary Heritage (Opole 2021, published by the University of Opole). The team’s aim for the coming years is to prepare further volumes of the Lexicon, devoted to various aspects of Silesian cuisine. Work is currently underway on the next volume of the Lexicon of Silesian Culinary Heritage. Vol. 2: Cookware and Kitchen Utensils.

Team members:
Dr Lidia Przymuszała, Professor at the University of Opole (Department of Polish Language)
Dr Dorota Świtała-Trybek, Professor at the University of Opole (Department of Cultural and Religious Studies)
