Research fields and areas

Institute of Linguistics, University of Opole The Institute of Linguistics was established in 2019 following a reorganisation of the university’s structures. Its mission is to conduct comprehensive research into language and its role in culture and society. The Institute of Linguistics comprises eight departments:
  • Department of English Language Acquisition
  • Department of English
  • Department of French
  • Department of German
  • Department of Polish
  • Department of Slavic Languages
  • Department of Speech and Language Therapy
  • Department of Cultural and Religious Studies.

Each department conducts research in different areas, and their staff collaborate with one another, resulting in a rich and interdisciplinary research environment.

Common research interests

Within the Institute of Linguistics, the individual departments are involved in a range of joint research projects, covering, among other things, the following topics:

Staff at the Institute of Linguistics actively participate in national and international academic bodies, carrying out a variety of research projects. , They also collaborate with international partners on bilateral projects and within the FORTHEM consortium, enabling the development of innovative research activities.
