Its mission is to conduct comprehensive research into language and its role in culture and society. The Institute of Linguistics comprises eight departments:<br><ul>\r\n \t<li>Department of English Language Acquisition<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Department of English<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Department of French<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Department of German<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Department of Polish<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Department of Slavic Languages<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Department of Speech and Language Therapy<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Department of Cultural and Religious Studies.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul><br>Each department conducts research in different areas, and their staff collaborate with one another, resulting in a rich and interdisciplinary research environment.<br><br><strong>Common research interests<\/strong><br><br>Within the Institute of Linguistics, the individual departments are involved in a range of joint research projects, covering, among other things, the following topics:<br><ol>\r\n \t<li><strong>Stylistics, pragmatics and rhetoric <\/strong>\u2013 Department of Polish, Department of English, Department of Slavic Languages.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Sociolinguistics <\/strong>\u2013 Department of German, Department of English Language Acquisition, Department of French and Department of Polish.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Phraseology, lexicology and onomastics <\/strong>\u2013 Department of Polish Language, Department of Slavic Languages, Department of English Language, Department of Department of French, Department of English, Department of German and Department of Slavic Languages.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Language <\/strong>of<strong> the media, advertising and digital cultures <\/strong>\u2013 Department of French, Department of English, Department of German, Department of Slavic Languages and Department of Cultural and Religious Studies.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Cultural diversity, minorities and equity education <\/strong>\u2013 Department of Cultural and Religious Studies, Department of German, Department of English Language Acquisition and Department of Polish.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Phonetics and speech therapy <\/strong>\u2013 Department of Speech Therapy, Department of French, Department of English Language Acquisition and Department of German.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol><br>Staff at the Institute of Linguistics actively participate in national and international academic bodies, carrying out a variety of research projects. , They also collaborate with international partners on bilateral projects and within the FORTHEM consortium, enabling the development of innovative research activities.<br><br>The Institute of Linguistics at the University of Opole is a place where scholarship meets a passion for language, and an interdisciplinary approach to research enables the exploration of linguistic and cultural
