As a research centre, the Institute of Linguistics is renowned both nationally and across Europe for the Opole School of Stylistics and the Opole School of Folklore, as well as for its Silesian studies research , focusing on language and culture. Works in the field of cultural linguistics, including phrasematics, as well as lexicographical and onomastic works, are highly regarded and cited in Polish and international publications. Applied linguistics \u2013 research in the areas of language acquisition and language teaching \u2013 also holds a strong position.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Institute is authorised to award doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in linguistics, as well as doctoral degrees in cultural and religious studies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Research in linguistics is conducted in the fields of English, French, German, Polish, Russian and Czech philology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Research in the discipline of cultural and religious studies is conducted in the fields of cultural studies, folklore studies, media studies (including research into the digital space of social media) and game studies (in particular, the study of narrative in games).<\/span><\/p>\n

        6. Making research results available in publications (including open access and under appropriate licences) and repositories that ensure the indexing and identification of research (DOI\/ISBN), as well as monitoring citations and the impact of this research on the academic community.<\/li>\n
        7. Organising national and international academic meetings (congresses, conferences, symposia), including the continuation of regular international and national academic conferences (on stylistics, Silesian and cultural studies, German studies, and language teaching); Participating in the organisation of conferences as part of the series of international onomastic conferences; participation of the Institute\u2019s staff in prestigious events of this type both in Poland and abroad.<\/li>\n
