Within the fields of exact and natural sciences, humanities, social sciences and theological sciences, we offer education in the following disciplines:

economics and finance,

environmental engineering, mining and energy,

computer science,

history,

linguistics,

literary studies,

biological sciences,

chemical sciences,

physical sciences,

medical sciences,

political science and public administration,

health sciences,

legal sciences,

theological sciences,

education,

psychology.

INDUSTRIAL DOCTORATES – the “Industrial Doctorate” programme is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The aim of the programme is to create conditions for the development of cooperation between higher education and research institutions and the socio-economic environment, conducted within the framework of doctoral schools and involving the training of doctoral students in collaboration with the employers or other entities that employ them. A condition for participation in the programme is the admission to a doctoral school of a person who is, or will be, employed on a full-time basis by an entity that agrees to their training at the doctoral school under the programme and provides them with a supporting supervisor. Thus, the programme involves the doctoral student working simultaneously in a company and a relevant academic institution (university, research institute) under the supervision of two academic supervisors – one representing the company and one representing the academic institution. This is a tremendous opportunity for developing cooperation between academia and business, beneficial to both parties. The young researcher gains new practical knowledge and learns how to effectively apply knowledge and research findings in business practice. Of course, the full-time position and additional remuneration – on top of the ministerial scholarship – are also significant. Implementation PhDs also offer entrepreneurs the chance to employ a talented specialist who will devote several years to work and research focused on the goals the company wishes to achieve. There is no funding limit per research project. It opens up the possibility of applying for funding for projects conducted in bilateral or multilateral international cooperation, as well as for projects carried out by Polish research teams using large international research facilities.

PRELUDIUM – for research projects, intended for researchers without a PhD. In the competition, grants of up to PLN 70,000, PLN 140,000 or PLN 210,000 can be obtained to fund projects lasting 12 months, 24 months or 36 months respectively.

PRELUDIUM BIS – aimed at institutions running doctoral schools. The aim of the competition is to support the education of doctoral students in doctoral schools and to fund research projects carried out by doctoral students as part of their doctoral theses. The budget for PRELUDIUM BIS projects may include research funding of up to PLN 180,000, doctoral scholarship costs and indirect costs. The competition will fund projects lasting 36 or 48 months. The competition supports the international mobility of PhD students, who are required to undertake a 3- to 6-month research placement abroad funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

ETIUDA for doctoral scholarships – the call is aimed at doctoral students or individuals with an ongoing doctoral programme at a Polish institution authorised to award doctoral degrees. Funding covers a research scholarship and a 3- to 6-month overseas placement.

SYMFONIA for interdisciplinary research projects carried out by outstanding scientists whose research is distinguished by the highest quality and boldly crosses the boundaries between different fields of science, contributing to the creation of new values and opening up new perspectives in science. Research projects in which the involvement of at least four PhD students (doctoral school participants) is envisaged are eligible for the competition.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education also provides financial support in the form of scholarships for outstanding young scientists demonstrating significant achievements in scientific activity. The scholarship is awarded for a period not exceeding 3 years. PhD students can also count on support and the opportunity to participate in interesting projects under the programmes of the National Centre for Research and Development.

LIDER – This is an elite programme aimed at representatives of various scientific fields. Its main objective is to broaden the skills of young researchers in independently planning, managing and leading their own research teams whilst carrying out scientific projects whose results can be implemented in the economy. The programme also serves to stimulate cooperation between researchers and businesses by enabling research with commercialisation and implementation potential, and by fostering mobility across sectors, between universities and between research institutions. Applicants apply to the programme together with a Unit, which may be a research organisation (public or private) conducting scientific research or academic work. PhD students may also benefit from the programmes of the National Agency for Academic Exchange.

The Iwanowska Programme, which aims to increase the international mobility of PhD students by enabling them to conduct research or teach at foreign institutions around the world. Stays lasting from 3 to 12 months involve a placement at recognised research centres and the implementation of research projects in collaboration with leading international researchers. Individuals preparing a doctoral thesis may apply to participate in the programme, with no restrictions regarding the field of science or the arts. The programme provides funding for a scholarship covering the beneficiary’s living costs associated with their stay at a host institution abroad, as well as a mobility allowance.

The CEEPUS Programme – Central European University Exchange Programme.
